When Awareness Becomes Harm: Rethinking Institutional Inclusion
Institutions have become skilled at naming equity problems. This page examines what happens when that naming substitutes for action, drawing on Sara Ahmed’s concept of non-performativity and this research’s original concept of malperformative inclusion to analyse how awareness can function as a mechanism of institutional stability rather than change.
Full content will be shared here after the doctoral defence. In the meantime, related concepts and context are available throughout the site, particularly in Section Two: The Research and the Glossary.
